"BRAIN SCANS REVEAL WHAT DOGS ARE THINKING"..."Emory University’s Center for Neuropolicy in Atlanta has developed a new way of scanning the brains of alert dogs with the aim of getting a more accurate understanding of how they think. According to the center’s director and lead researcher Gregory Berns:

As far as we know, no one has been able to do this previously. We hope this opens up a whole new door for understanding canine cognition and inter-species communication. We want to understand the dog-human relationship, from the dog’s perspective.

The dog involved in the experiment was trained to walk up to the MRI machine and hold his head still while her brain was scanned. The research is further deepened by analyzing how the dog’s brain patterns change in response to hand signals and vocal cues. This will flesh out insights into canine cognition, social cognition of other species, interspecies communication, and provide a deeper understanding of the human-canine relationship.

Tom sez - Could this technology be used to find out how dogs can sense someone's sickness?  Dogs can smell cancer before doctors can detect it.  Why can't we figure this out?  Maybe this new tool will help.

Tom Sez - Animals can sense, maybe we can too, but we've lost the ability or suppress it.  

Maybe good research project for university?....glean the science out of this?....equip dogs/pets with sensors to map out the responses when they "intuitively" know a person is sick?  Galvanic Skin Response Sensors?  Eye movement?  Sniff sensors?   etc.....

New Blog - Seeking Communication with Life Forms, Alive, Dead, or Whatever

Hello All – Have you ever thought there must be more to life than what we see and hear?  Do you ever wonder what pets are thinking?  Are you interested in what some call Fringe Science or Pseudo-Science?  

Well, this new blog focuses on ways to communicate with the world in and around us.  SETI searched for life outside our universe.  This blog is seeking enhanced communication with those life-forms around us that we "can't" talk to .  Who says we can't?

Topics might include Inter-Species Communication, Plant Talk, Talking to the Dead, Chatting with God or other Good Spirits.  Of course Alien discovery is also welcome here too.  Who knows what we as a people might find.  If Science isn't interested, that does not have to hold us back.  Onward!

I focus on hope and potentially helpful solutions.
